Power Management
This chapter describes how the SG50 uses external power, the solar panel, and the internal battery, and provides battery and solar panel maintenance information.
Power Supply
The SG50 can be powered by either a 12-24 VDC external power supply or a solar panel. When an external power source is available, the internal battery pack is also charged. If the external power supply is disconnected or the solar panel cannot provide enough power, the internal battery pack can supply power to the gateway.
Battery Charging and Operating Conditions
Observe the following conditions when charging and operating the internal battery pack.

| Charging Interface | The battery can only be charged through the DC power connector. USB charging is not supported. |
| Temperature above 50°C | The battery cannot be charged when the device temperature is above 50°C. Avoid direct exposure of the device to sunlight. |
| Temperature below 0°C | If the device temperature is below 0°C and the solar panel provides more than 7 W, the gateway heats the battery until the temperature reaches 10°C. If the battery is not fully charged, charging then starts. |
Battery Care and Storage
If the battery is not used for an extended period, it may become over-discharged and its health may be affected. Charge the battery regularly, at least once every three months, to avoid over-discharge.
Solar Panel Maintenance
Clean the solar panel surface regularly or according to local environmental conditions. Dust, sand, bird droppings, and other environmental factors on the solar panel surface can reduce charging efficiency.
