Hardware Introduction

This chapter describes the hardware design of the device.

Part Description
LED Area See LED Patterns.
Internal Antenna Built-in LoRaWAN® Antennas to enhance wireless communication range and reliability. UG65-L09NA-915M model does not include these antennas.
LoRaWAN® Antenna Connector Allows connection of the external antenna to enhance wireless communication range and reliability.

Part Description
Type-C Port Used for device console or device power supply.
Ethernet Port (PoE) Allows connection to an ISP for network access, and supports the PoE PD feature, enabling it to receive power over Ethernet.
DC Power Connector Supply the DC power to the device.
Cellular Antenna Connector Allows connection of the external antenna to enhance wireless communication range and reliability. Only UG65-L09NA-915M (cellular EA) model has this connector.
Reset Button Allows to reset the device to factory defaults. For details see LED Patterns.
SIM Slot Allows to insert a SIM card to connect to the cellular network.
Bracket Mounting Holes Secure the device to the mounting bracket by fixing the screws to the holes/

LED Patterns

POWER Off The power is switched off
On The power is switched on
STATUS Blue Static On The system is working well
Red Static On The system malfunctions
Static On → Quickly Blinks Factory reset: Press and hold the reset button for more than 5 seconds
LoRa Off Packet forwarder is running off
On Packet forwarder is running well
LTE Off SIM card is registering or failed to register (or there are no SIM cards inserted)
Slowly Blinks SIM card has been registered and is ready for dial-up
Quickly Blinks SIM card has been registered and is dialing up now
Static On SIM card has been registered and dialed up successfully
ETH Off The Ethernet port is disconnected or connection failure
On The Ethernet port is connected

Powering Options

This chapter describes the powering supply option supported by UG65 gateways. Please select one of the following options to power the gateway.

Powered by DC Jack Power Connector
The gateway can be powered by a DC Jack power connector (9-24V DC).
Powered by Active PoE
The Ethernet port can receive power by connecting to an 802.3af standard PoE switch or PoE injector.

Powered by USB Type-C
The gateway can be powered by a USB Type-C port (5V DC/1A).
Tip: If multiple power sources are connected at the same time, the device will primarily use power from the DC power connector, followed by the PoE source.

Installation Instructions

This chapter provide instructions on how to install the accessories and the device.

Warning: Before installation, ensure the device is powered off!

SIM Card Installation (Cellular Version Only)

This section describes how to install a SIM card into the device. If not needed, please skip this section.

Prerequisites:
  • The gateway supports cellular feature (model name includes -Lxxx).
  • Extra tools: Screwdriver, a SIM card (Mini-2FF).
Steps:
  1. Open the protective cover on the back of the gateway.
  2. Insert the SIM card into the SIM slot in the correct orientation.

    To remove the SIM card, press it and it will pop up automatically.

Cable Installation & Weather Protection

This section describes how to install the cables to prevent water when the gateway is installed outdoors.

Prerequisites: Screwdriver, Flat Ethernet cable, DC Jack Power Adapter

Steps:
  1. Open the protective cover on the back of the gateway.
  2. Connect the necessary cables to corresponding interfaces of the gateway.
  3. Take the waterproof silicone out of the gateway, then tear it along the tear line.

  4. Pass the cables through the opening in the waterproof silicone. During operation, make sure the silicone is not compressed or damaged.

  5. Slid the cables with the silicone into the cable grooves of the gateway. The TOP side of the silicone must face up.

  6. Screw the protective cover to the gateway.

Antenna Installation

This section describes how to install the antennas to the device.

Install External LoRaWAN Antenna
  1. Rotate the antenna into the LoRaWAN antenna connector. The antennas should be installed vertically.

Install External Cellular Antenna (Cellular EA Version Only)

  1. Rotate the antenna into the cellular antenna connector. The antenna should be installed vertically, with their magnetic bases attached to a metal surface.
    Tip:
    • Keep the antennas away from walls and ensure there are no obstacles around them.
    • For better coverage, it is recommended to position the antennas at a higher location.
    • Place the antennas near windows when used indoors.


Gateway Installation

This section describes how to install the gateway. The gateway supports wall mounting with screws or pole mounting.

Installation Location
  • The external antenna must extend beyond the wall or pillar surface and not be close to the poles or walls.
  • Ensure there are no obstacles or metal objects around.
  • For better coverage, it is recommended to position the gateway at a higher location, or near windows when used indoors.

Wall Mounting

Requirements:
  • The wall structure shall be sufficiently solid and stable to ensure firm screw fixation and overall mounting stability.
  • Screw mounting positions must avoid internal wall electrical wiring, water pipes and other concealed utilities to prevent structural damage and potential safety hazards.

Prerequisites: Screwdriver, Mounting Bracket, Bracket Fixing Screws, Wall Mount Kit, Wall Mounting Bracket, Bracket Screws, Pencil, Electrical Drill

Steps:
  1. Align the mounting bracket horizontally to the target surface, use a pencil to mark four mounting holes.
    Note: The connecting lines of adjacent points are at right angles.
  2. Drill four holes in the wall according to the mounting holes.
  3. Insert the wall plugs into the holes.
  4. Secure the mounting bracket to the wall plugs using the wall mounting screws.

  5. Fix the two bracket mounting screws to the back of the device.

  6. Hang the gateway to the mounting bracket and secure it with a fixing screw.



Pole Mounting

Prerequisites: Hose Clamps, Screwdriver, Mounting Bracket, Bracket Fixing Screws

Steps:
  1. Loosen the hose clamps by turning the locking mechanism counter-clockwise.
  2. Straighten out the hose clamps and slid them through the rectangular rings in the mounting bracket, then wrap them around the pole.
  3. Tighten the hose clamps by turning the locking mechanism clockwise.

  4. Fix the two bracket mounting screws to the back of the device.

  5. Hang the gateway to the mounting bracket and secure it with a fixing screw.



Access the Gateway

  1. Enable the Wireless Network Connection on your computer, search for the corresponding for Wi-Fi SSID, and connect to it. Default Wi-Fi credentials:

    SSID: Gateway_XXXXXX (last 6 digits of the Wi-Fi MAC address)
    Password: iotpassword

  2. Open a web browser (Chrome is recommended) and type in https://192.168.1.1 to access the web GUI.
  3. Log in to the web GUI using the default credentials:

    Username: admin
    Password: password

  4. After logging the web GUI for the first time, it is necessary to change the default password.

    1. Enter a New Password. The password must contain at least one letter and one number, and be 5 to 31 characters long.
    2. Enter Confirm New Password.
    3. Click Save.
    4. Log in to the web GUI using the new credentials.

This equipment complies with FCC radiation exposure limits set forth for an uncontrolled environment. This equipment should be installed and operated with minimum distance 20cm between the radiator& your body. This transmitter must not be co-located or operating in conjunction with any other antenna or transmitter.
