Milesight Devices Achieve
Radio Equipment Directive(RED) Certification:
Ensuring Safe and Compliant IoT Connectivity

Table of Content
In the rapidly evolving world of IoT, ensuring device security, regulatory compliance, and reliable connectivity has never been more important. The Radio Equipment Directive (RED) is the European Union’s essential framework that defines safety, electromagnetic compatibility, and radio performance requirements for all wireless devices entering the EU market.
Milesight is committed to meeting these standards. Several of our devices have successfully obtained RED certification, while others will be brought into full RED conformity via firmware upgrades and ongoing verification efforts.
Understanding the RED Directive Act
The RED Directive Act (RED-DA) ensures that every wireless and radio-enabled device meets strict requirements before entering the EU market. The RED-DA introduce mandatory cybersecurity, data protection, and fraud prevention measures for all Internet-connected wireless devices.
The EN 18031 series of standards provides the technical specifications and test methods to demonstrate conformity with RED-DA. Compliance with both RED-DA and EN 18031 ensures that cybersecurity, data protection, and network resilience are built into the product design—not added as an afterthought.
By complying with these standards, Milesight devices are proven to incorporate security by design, protecting our users and their data from the ground up.
RED Readiness Across the Milesight Product Line
Specific product lines such as the AM Series sensors and UG Series LoRaWAN gateways (UG63, UG56, UG65, UG67, and SG50) have already obtained RED certification. Additional devices are currently undergoing testing and verification to achieve RED-DA compliance, further expanding certification coverage across the Milesight portfolio.
Meanwhile, Milesight is rolling out firmware updates and technical enhancements to bring more products into conformity with RED-DA requirements. These updates ensure that customers can deploy Milesight devices with confidence in their alignment with the latest EU regulations.
What This Means for Milesight Customers
The RED-DA and EN 18031 compliance of our devices translates into tangible benefits for our global customer base, particularly those operating within or supplying to the EU:
