Sensor-Based Automation

WS558 can work with LoRaWAN® sensors, such as WS202 PIR and Light Sensor and VS370 Radar Human Presence Sensor, to trigger lighting actions based on presence, occupancy, brightness, or other environmental changes. This enables more responsive lighting control in offices, corridors, meeting rooms, restrooms, and other shared spaces.

Multicast Group Control

Send the same lighting command to multiple WS558 controllers in one multicast group, making it easier to control lighting across larger areas, multiple floors, or repeated lighting zones.

Low-Latency D2D Control

Milesight D2D enables WS558 to communicate directly with compatible Milesight devices for fast local lighting automation. Without waiting for commands to pass through a gateway or cloud platform, lighting actions can be triggered in less than 1 second.

Delay-Off Control with Milesight D2D

Trigger lights through compatible Milesight D2D devices, then switch them off automatically after a preset delay to reduce unnecessary energy use. For example, with WS202 PIR & Light Sensor, WS558 can provide temporary lighting when motion is detected at night.

overcurrent protection

Overcurrent Protection

Each output circuit is protected against overcurrent; if the current exceeds safe limits, WS558 LoRaWAN® lighting controller automatically shuts off the circuit to prevent equipment damage and ensure safe lighting operation.

Measure Lighting Energy Consumption with Greater Visibility

Real-Time Electrical Monitoring

The WS558 Smart Light Controller LN version supports measurement of voltage, current, power, power factor, and energy consumption for better understanding how lighting circuits perform and identify unnecessary energy usage.

Data-Driven Energy Management

By collecting lighting energy data, WS558 helps building operators evaluate lighting strategies, compare usage patterns, and improve long-term energy efficiency.

FAQs

How many bulbs can WS558 control?

WS558 can control up to 8 independent lighting circuits, with each circuit managing multiple bulbs. Load limits per circuit are:

LN Version: 10A per output for resistive load (~2300W), 5A per output for capacitive/inductive load (~1150W), total maximum 16A.

Switch Version: 10A per switch for resistive load (~2300W), 5A per switch for capacitive/inductive load (~1150W).

Ensure that the total wattage of connected bulbs does not exceed these limits to maintain safe and reliable operation.

What is the wireless coverage range of WS558?

WS558 communicates via LoRaWAN® and D2D protocols. LoRaWAN® connectivity provides long-range coverage, up to 2 km in urban environments, penetrating multiple floors, while D2D ensures fast local communication within the same floor or zone for sub-second automation.

What role does a smart light controller play in a smart lighting system?

A smart light controller enhances smart lighting by enabling remote access, automation, centralized management, integration, and energy efficiency. It allows users to centrally control lighting and automate schedules based on triggers. It can integrate with other systems for coordinated scenarios and optimize energy efficiency.

Can I control multiple lights with one smart light controller?

Yes, you can control multiple lights with one smart light controller. For example, Milesight Smart Light Controller WS558 can handle up to eight separate circuits—each can be controlled respectively. It significantly reduces wiring costs and simplifies installation in various settings such as offices, shopping malls, and schools. Additionally, it supports both remote control and time-based scheduling, allowing users to turn lights on or off via a smartphone app or set timers for automatic operation.

What are the benefits of using smart light controllers for commercial buildings?

Smart light controllers benefit commercial buildings by enhancing energy efficiency, operational flexibility, and user comfort. They reduce lighting costs by 35-70% through occupancy sensing, daylight harvesting, and scheduling. Central management simplifies wiring and lighting control in large spaces, while remote and timer-based features prevent energy waste. Additionally, Milesight Smart Light Controller WS558 is equipped with overcurrent protection to safeguard against overloads and short circuits, enhancing the safety of the lighting system and reducing maintenance costs.

Why retrofit legacy buildings with smart lighting control?

Retrofitting legacy buildings with smart lighting improves energy efficiency, occupant comfort, and operational control. This upgrade can reduce energy consumption significantly through occupancy-based and daylight dimming adjustments. Integrating smart lighting with building management systems enhances overall efficiency, while features like circadian lighting improve occupant well-being. The ROI is significant, with energy savings boosting property value. Smart lighting also supports sustainability goals by reducing carbon footprints and can help buildings earn green certifications.

What are the key features to look for in a smart light controller for commercial use?

When selecting a smart lighting controller for commercial use, prioritize key features such as sensor integration (occupancy and motion sensors), remote control via mobile apps, and customizable settings (scenes and scheduling). Ensure compatibility with building management systems (BMS) for seamless integration and scalability for future needs. These features collectively enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve user experience.
